2017 North America Battery Show

The 2017 North America Battery Show has been happening this week in Novi, Michigan. Osborne had a great time visiting the show and we observed a few interesting trends:

First, plenty of energy storage innovation is happening in the low volume vehicle sector. A123 Systems had an impressive display of bus batteries. John Deere Electronics Solutions demonstrated telematics and power electronics technology for the heavy equipment industry. Applied Energy Solutions featured interesting battery technology for the forklift and pallet jack segments. Navitas Systems showcased their powerful line of Starlifter Lithium forklift batteries. And Voltabox shared their latest battery designs for the electric bus and mining markets.

Among the more prominent exhibits, TE Connectivity showed their exciting plexiglass showpiece vehicle with dozens of connectivity products embedded in their approximate location within the vehicle.

Eaton’s exhibit focused on components used in critical power applications, including a broad range of supercapacitors. Xalt Energy made an exceptional presentation of their groundbreaking Lithium Ion battery designs.

2017 was Osborne’s second annual visit to the North America Battery Show, and every year the event is expanding at a meaningful pace. We’re already looking forward to the 2018 show!
