EMC Testing Inductors
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is a somewhat unique discipline within the world of electrical product development and analysis. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing is primarily concerned with understanding and mitigating the affects of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).
Osborne produces inductors for use in EMC tests on vehicle circuits. These inductors help vehicle circuit developers simulate real world conditions in their labs. Accurate circuit simulation techniques, especially in simulated loads, is essential for fast paced circuit prototyping. Osborne’s inductors help EMC testing experts combine the speed of digital prototyping with the reliability of analog “breadboarding”. The analog simulations are a necessary step in understanding the behavior of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) in and around a vehicle circuit.
One vehicle circuit manufacturer, Ford Motor Company, has been using Osborne’s EMC test inductors since the early days of load simulating inductor technology. Ford issued a global specification for all Ford circuit developers that mandates the use of Osborne’s EMC test inductors #8745 & #32416. Osborne refers to this pair of inductors as our EMC testing inductor kit.
