Line Reactors

Osborne line reactors are electromagnetic components consisting of one or more electrical inductor elements generally wired between a power source and an electrical load. The most common type of line reactor is designed for three phase electrical power and consists of three isolated inductors, each wired in series with one of the three line phases. Line reactors will oppose rapid changes in current and therefore serve to attenuate current spikes and limit peak currents. They can also act as low-pass filters and, as such,  may be used to filter harmonic currents and reduce harmonic distortion in supply and/or load voltages.
